Senior Business Advisor - Access to Finance Specialist
The Growth Company’s (GC) Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub is hiring a Senior Business Advisor – Access to Finance Specialist to manage a team of specialist business advisors to deliver high quality finance and funding advice in support of business growth including direct client engagement and management of a portfolio of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Access to Finance in managing a team of Access to Finance specialists to deliver high-impact, tailored support that unlocks growth potential in SMEs.
- Act as the lead advisor and subject matter expert on finance-related matters, including pre / early revenue stage businesses, ensuring the service cultivates strong links with lenders, investors, and appropriate intermediaries.
- Support the planning, delivery and reporting of service performance to ensure alignment with contractual targets, quality benchmarks, and delivery against stakeholder expectations.
- Conduct in-depth diagnostics and deliver bespoke, multi-disciplinary growth support to clients, addressing complex business issues with strategic, data-driven solutions.
- Guide clients through initial eligibility assessments, growth action planning and outcome tracking—ensuring compliance with project frameworks and stakeholder expectations.
- Manage relationships with external delivery partners, subcontractors, and wider GC Business Growth Hub teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.
- Monitor and manage team CRM activity and ensure accurate logging of client interactions, progress, outputs, and impact data in line with funder reporting requirements.
- Represent GC in broader economic development conversations, contributing expert insights on SME access to finance, productivity and competitive resilience.
About you:
- A dynamic leader with proven experience in the finance world—confident navigating both strategic and operational challenges.
- Comfortable leading detailed conversations around growth potential, diagnostics and complex business needs.
- Possess a valid driving licence and happy to travel for client and partner engagement as required.
- Highly IT literate with confidence using CRM systems and diagnostic tools.
- Able to influence and engage senior stakeholders and business owners through strong communication.
Skills Required:
- Demonstrable track record managing and inspiring high-performing teams to exceed KPIs.
- Deep understanding of SME finance, equity, debt, and investor networks.
- Excellent project management, planning, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional standing in business or finance.
- Skilled in written and verbal communication, reporting and business insight delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of business growth dynamics and economic development networks.
