About the Role

Join our team as a Senior Building Technician! In this vital role, you'll play a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our site. You'll be responsible for a wide range of maintenance activities, working closely with the Building Services Engineer to uphold high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

Our Building Services Senior Technicians play an important part in supporting the operation of our state of the art, automated Customer Fulfilment Centres, Working closely with the
engineering teams to optimise availability and performance of the facility. As well as ensuring legislative compliance and managing external contractors during reactive and planned maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the main point of contact for building/facilities related issues.
• Providing technical support to the onsite engineering teams for the site systems.
• Ensuring all site infrastructure is maintained and available for use including industrial refrigeration, generators, fire alarm & sprinkler systems.
• Carrying out a range of internal and external maintenance tasks, to ensure our buildings and systems are maintained and serviced to a high standard.
• Providing first line maintenance to the site, carrying out basic repairs to fixtures, fittings and plumbing including dealing with blockages or leaks.
• Responding to reactive requests that require urgent attention as well as safety and compliance checks.
• Contacting contractors to arrange for repairs as needed, and inspecting completed jobs.
• Reviewing all contractor safety documents before site attendance and dealing with contractors while they are working onsite, in accordance with company policies.
• Attending site meetings, ensuring any actions are dealt with promptly.
• Creating and maintaining building documentation and service records.
• Escalating issues when required to the Building Services Engineer

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required

• Computer literate in MS office package.
• Experience within a service support role in an automated production environment, preferably for a 24/7 FMCG business. Experience within a site facilities support role; Experience is not essential but would be beneficial
• A formal qualification in an electrical or mechanical engineering subject (apprentice served, NVQ, or equivalent
  • BTEC grade 2 (minimum)
  • Trade Apprenticeship
  • Proven practical skills
  • Some other form that can demonstrate practical aptitude / skills

Desirable

• Knowledge of building control systems (BMS) would be advantageous.

• You are a skilled communicator and have strong interpersonal skills
• You are able to impart knowledge effectively to others of varying technical levels
• Skilled at handyman type activities
• Able to work unsupervised
• Self-motivated
