Job summary

Bracknell Forest Council is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to support the Housing team in delivering safe and well-maintained temporary accommodation. You will apply your building surveying expertise to ensure homes are safe, compliant and suitable for vulnerable residents, across repairs, voids, refurbishments and acquisitions.

You will work from Time Square, Bracknell, with hybrid arrangements three days on-site and flexible working options where possible.

About you…

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will have strong professional knowledge and experience in building surveying, with the ability to apply your technical expertise across a varied portfolio of temporary accommodation.

With a strong understanding of landlord health and safety responsibilities, you will use your professional judgement to ensure homes are safe, compliant and suitable for vulnerable residents. Your expertise will also help identify practical solutions to complex property issues and support the successful delivery of a range of projects.

The role will see you taking ownership of planned, cyclical and capital works from initial assessment through to completion, ensuring projects meet statutory requirements, internal governance standards and value-for-money expectations. You will also provide professional surveying advice across repairs, voids, adaptations, refurbishments, acquisitions and compliance programmes.

Strong organisational and communication skills will be essential, as you will manage competing priorities and work closely with colleagues, contractors and partner agencies. A proactive approach and the ability to build effective working relationships will help you deliver positive outcomes for customers.

Above all, you will be motivated by making a practical difference, using your surveying expertise to help keep temporary accommodation safe and ready for residents when they need support most.

About the team…

Based at Time Square in Bracknell Town Centre, you will join a supportive and knowledgeable Housing team responsible for delivering responsive property management across temporary accommodation.

You will be part of a collaborative environment where professional expertise is valued, colleagues support one another and everyone is focused on achieving positive outcomes for customers. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining high-quality temporary accommodation and ensuring vulnerable residents are supported in suitable homes.

• Procure and deliver planned, cyclical and capital works projects that meet statutory requirements, internal governance standards and value-for-money expectations.
• Provide professional building surveying expertise across temporary accommodation, including compliance programmes, day-to-day repairs, voids, adaptations, refurbishments and acquisitions.
• Safeguard residents, visitors, neighbours and the wider public by ensuring council-owned, leased and managed homes meet landlord health and safety responsibilities.
• Access role-specific training and professional development to strengthen your technical skills and support career progression
• 28 days annual leave increasing to 33 days after 3 years’ continuous service, with the opportunity to buy up to 10 and sell up to 5 days.
