AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice has a vacancy in our Newcastle office covering the Northeast region, for a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor / Senior Building Surveyor to work in a multi-disciplinary environment delivering a full suite of Building Surveying duties. We offer varied and interesting work with high-profile public and private sector clients.

This role offers excellent prospects for individuals with a strong ambition to progress, who enjoy working collaboratively within a vibrant team, and have experience managing client relationships and legal/technical issues.

This position is ideal for a Senior Chartered or Senior Building Surveyor with post-qualification experience looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Working across multiple projects in different sectors, providing building surveying and project management duties. Experience with Local Authority/Government agencies is advantageous.
  • Assisting with developing new and repeat business.
  • Managing client relationships and service delivery on a project-by-project basis with senior colleagues.

Additional Practice Management Responsibilities include:

  • Project management and Contract Administration for larger projects.
  • Condition and measured surveys.
  • Designing and implementing small to medium-sized projects.
  • Applying standard forms of building contracts such as JCT and NEC.
  • Staying updated on industry issues and best practices.
  • Performing defect analysis, building surveys, and producing reports and specifications.
  • Mentoring and training junior Surveyors and participating in the APC program.
  • Understanding principles of quality, safety, and environmental management in projects.
  • Reporting to line managers and undertaking assigned activities.
  • Networking to develop AtkinsRéalis' local presence and business opportunities.
  • Leading bid development and job instructions.
  • Serving as Principal Designer as per company requirements.
  • Providing project management services.

Requirements:

  • BSc (Honours) in Building Surveying, RICS Accredited or similar.
  • Full member of RICS, MCIOB, or similar (desirable but not mandatory).
  • Proven all-round surveying experience with client-facing and work-winning skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary refurbishment and extension projects up to c£1m capex.
  • Experience in pre- and post-contract project management.
  • Strong team working and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to build profitable services and high-performing teams.
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, AutoCAD; Revit experience advantageous.
  • Experience managing and mentoring team members, including APC graduates.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety, including CDM 2015.
  • Experience as Principal Designer is advantageous.
