Job description

Are you a Building Surveyor with demonstrable experience in fire safety and building safety compliance?

Have you got experience managing and mentoring a team of Surveyors to deliver for public and private sector clients?

Then this could be the opportunity for you!

We are excited to be working with a Building Safety Specialist located in Nottingham who are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join their company on a full time, permanent basis to lead on the delivery of building surveying services, for public and private sector clients, with an emphasis on fire safety and building safety compliance.

Their ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience as a Building Surveyor, with a Degree, HND, HNC, and/or RICS-Accredited Conversion in Building Surveying. They will also have an understanding and knowledge of a range of Building and Fire Safety compliance regulations. They will also have experience mentoring Junior Surveyors and leading multi-disciplinary delivery teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and undertake complex building surveys, fire safety reviews, and compliance assessments across a range of sectors and building types
  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of building surveyors
  • Ensure high technical standards, CPD development, and performance
  • Advise on the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and relevant statutory duties for Accountable and Principal Accountable persons
  • Support clients in fulfilling building regulation obligations
  • Engage with construction lawyers on technical disputes, reports, and expert witness-style reviews related to contractual disputes, Defective Premises Act claims and limitation periods
  • Collaborate with fire engineers, structural engineers, and MEP teams
  • Oversee project quality, budgets, timelines, and reporting
Skills and Experience
  • Degree, HND, HNC, or RICS-Accredited Degree Conversion in Building Surveying
  • Member of Chartered status with RICS, CIOB, or equivalent
  • In-depth understanding of Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and Golden Thread requirements
  • Understanding of fire safety design and regulatory compliance for new and existing buildings
  • Knowledge of Defence Premises Act is highly desirable
  • Experience mentoring Junior Surveyors and leading multi-disciplinary delivery teams
  • Familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts along with public sector procurement processes
  • Full clean UK driving licence
