Job summary

BWP Building and Project Consultants is seeking an Associate Building Surveyor to join our Liverpool team, focusing on surveys, reporting and compliance for mixed-use properties.

You will support client projects from feasibility through to completion, collaborating with Directors, attending site visits, and providing cost and design input while promoting landlord and tenant matters as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong technical building surveying skills and ability to prepare professional reports.
• Knowledge of building safety legislation and standards, including Building Safety Act awareness.
• Experience supporting project management, coordinating contractors, and cost/design decisions.
• Progress toward or membership of RICS (AssocRICS/MRICS).
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.

Role Description

The Associate Building Surveyor will support a range of surveying and consultancy projects, including inspections, technical reporting, and compliance assessments for residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. Day-to-day tasks include conducting building surveys, preparing detailed condition and defect reports, advising clients on building safety and regulatory requirements, and assisting with project delivery from feasibility to completion. The role involves collaborating with colleagues and Directors, attending site visits, contributing to design and cost advice, and supporting landlord and tenant matters such as dilapidations and schedules of condition. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Liverpool, with a mix of office, site, and work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

• Strong technical building surveying skills, including property inspections, defect diagnosis, and preparation of professional reports.
• Knowledge of building safety legislation and standards, including experience or interest in the Building Safety Act and related compliance frameworks.
• Experience supporting project management activities, such as coordinating contractors, monitoring progress, and contributing to cost and design decisions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, demonstrating clear communication and client-focused service.
• Progress toward or membership of RICS (AssocRICS/MRICS) or a strong desire to achieve professional accreditation.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a closely related discipline.
• Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard surveying/project documentation tools.
• Organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple instructions and deadlines with attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the region and occasionally further afield.
