Job summary

Notting Hill Genesis Group is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to lead complex damp, mould and building defect programmes. You will provide technical leadership, oversee investigations, surveys and remedial works, and ensure value-driven delivery for residents in London.

You will mentor junior surveyors and collaborate with Repairs, Assets and Housing teams to improve diagnostics and responses. You will also contribute to the repair strategy and continuous improvement of surveying services

Qualifications

  • Senior surveying qualification (e.g., BSc/MSc) and chartered membership.
  • Post-qualification experience serving residential property owners/managers.
  • Experience in major works project management with cost appraisal.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex damp and mould investigations and remediation programmes.
  • Carry out detailed building surveys, prepare reports, specs, and cost appraisals.
  • Manage contractors, consultants and suppliers to deliver value and NHG standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and identify improvement opportunities.

## Job Introduction**What you’ll do**Damp and mould is one of our key priorities, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to play a leading role within our dedicated Damp & Mould Team.As a Senior Building Surveyor, you'll lead the delivery of complex inspection, remediation and improvement programmes focused on damp, mould, condensation and associated building defects. Using your extensive surveying expertise, you'll provide technical leadership, manage complex cases, support colleagues and contractors, and ensure residents receive a proactive, high-quality service that resolves issues for the long term rather than simply treating symptoms.You'll work closely with colleagues across Repairs, Assets and Housing, helping to drive improvements in how we diagnose, manage and prevent damp and mould issues. As a member of the Repairs Senior Management Team, you'll also contribute to the development of our Repair Strategy and the continuous improvement of our surveying services.**How you’ll do it*** Lead complex damp and mould investigations, building defect assessments and remedial programmes, ensuring works are delivered on time and within budget.* Carry out detailed building surveys and prepare technical reports, specifications, recommendations and cost appraisals.* Manage contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers, ensuring works deliver value for money and meet NHG standards.* Monitor contractor performance using data, insight and technical expertise, identifying opportunities for improvement and service enhancement.* Provide expert advice on major repairs, defects, latent defects, FRA, EPC and other technical property matters.* Support and mentor surveyors within the team, helping to build technical capability and professional development.* Work closely with residents, keeping them informed throughout complex cases and ensuring their experience remains at the centre of decision-making.* Analyse performance information and identify opportunities to improve the delivery of repairs, damp and mould services and wider surveying functions**The ideal candidate**We believe great service starts with great people, and we are committed to recruiting and developing passionate, enthusiastic, and talented individuals who can add value to our thriving organisation.Essential:* Senior surveying qualification (e.g., BSc/MSc), Chartered Membership of RICS or CIOB* In-depth post-qualification experience providing services to residential property owners and managers* Significant experience in project management of major works, including cost appraisal* Experience in managing a team* Strong experience investigating building defects, including damp, mould and condensation issues.* Experience delivering repair improvement plans and performance projects in complex delivery models.Desirable:* Experience working within social housing.**What’s in it for you?**Once you join us, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to grow within our organisation.
