About The Role

The role

Gateley Vinden are looking to recruit a full time Senior Building Surveyor to join our growing team. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the UK Wide Surveying team on a wide range of projects primarily commercial buildings in all forms of construction. This position provides a perfect opportunity for the successful candidate to show their ambition, drive, and passion for customer service, as well as delivering our values, a professional manner and good interpersonal communication skills are essential.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all commercial types of buildings and sites.
  • Prepare reports, schedules of works and works specifications.
  • Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards.
  • Act as Lead Consultant and/or project manager undertaking larger value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services, including the appointment and co-ordination of other consultants to support project delivery.
  • Understand and apply health and safety, party wall, building regulations, Building Safety Act and planning legislation.
  • Promote the company's services to secure projects and promote the Gateley Vinden brand.
  • Understand property and construction related legal documents including development agreements and leases and other documents in respect of monitoring new developments for funders, institutions and occupiers.
  • Inspect and prepare dilapidations schedules and dilapidations liability assessments and negotiate these on behalf of landlords and tenants.
  • Provide supervision and support to APC candidates to promote knowledge and understanding.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Company's administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.

The person

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Must be MRICS Accredited
  • Experience and extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures, with awareness of latest statutory requirements and technical publications.
  • Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing
  • Insurance repair project experience preferred
  • Experience in negotiation, supervisory and leadership roles
  • Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large-scale projects
  • Experience and understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
  • Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills and the ability to think methodically to problem solve
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and variable attitude to work type
