Job summary

Thomas Search Ltd, in partnership with a prestigious MoD facilities contractor, seeks a Senior Building Services Engineer based in Tidworth. This senior role leads building services across the contract, reporting to the Head of Estates and acting as the senior technical authority for Hard FM.

The ideal candidate will be Chartered, or working towards chartership, with extensive HVAC, water systems and BMS experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership through a professional institution.
• Experience with design, operation and maintenance of HVAC, water systems and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across building services engineering disciplines throughout the estate.
• Act as senior technical authority for hard FM, with escalation role for complex issues and asset failures.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement solutions to improve reliability and reduce risk.
• Develop lifecycle replacement plans to support long-term operational resilience.
• Support major incidents and business continuity events while restoring critical services.
• Coach and develop technical capability across teams and build stakeholder relationships.

Job description

Thomas Search Ltd are working in partnership with a prestigious Ministry of Defence facilities contractor for the resource of a new Senior Building Services Engineer based in Tidworth.

Salary: Up to GBP75,000
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, no weekends
Location: Tidworth

This is a senior technical leadership role, working closing with the Head of Estates, acting as the senior technical authority for Hard FM/Building Services across the contract. Ideally we're looking for a chartered individual, or someone who is IEng with deserve to become CEng.

• You will provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across building services engineering disciplines throughout the estate.
• You will act as the senior technical authority and escalation point for complex engineering issues, critical asset failures and operational risks.
• You will lead root cause investigations, identify recurring defects and implement engineering solutions that improve reliability and reduce risk.
• You will evaluate asset performance and develop lifecycle replacement plans that support long term operational resilience.
• You will support major incidents, service disruptions and business continuity events while helping restore critical services.
• You will coach, mentor and develop technical capability across teams while building strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications & Experience:

• You will be degree qualified in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and be a Chartered Engineer, or working towards chartership, through an appropriate professional institution.

• You will have experience in the design, operation and maintenance of hot and cold water systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, heat pumps, building management systems and control systems, alongside experience writing technical reports and managing subcontractors.

• You will be analytical, able to communicate effectively at all organisational levels and capable of building strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
