Zusammenfassung

Maldon District Council, in partnership with Essex Shared Services, seeks an experienced Principal Building Control Surveyor for a hybrid role with regular office attendance in Maldon and site visits as needed.

You will lead the Building Control team, ensuring compliance with legislation and codes of practice, while mentoring junior staff and handling complex applications, inspections, enforcement matters and appeals.

Qualifikationen

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (Building Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management) or equivalent professional experience.
• Current registration with the Building Safety Regulator to undertake building control work in England (min RBI Class 2D).
• Chartered or accredited membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, CABE).
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
• Experience in advanced building control practices, including inspections, enforcement, and appeals.

Aufgaben

• Provide expert advice to the Council, senior officers, Members and external stakeholders on building control matters and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee and mentor Building Control staff, promoting professional development and high performance.
• Manage complex building control applications, inspections, enforcement matters and appeals as the senior technical contact.
• Contribute to policy development, procedures, and projects to improve service quality and customer experience.
• Ensure accurate records and data governance in line with statutory requirements.
• Lead, mentor and develop junior surveyors and wider team members.
