Role description:

Our Bridges and Civil Structures team is involved in some of the UK’s most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK’s and indeed the world’s most prestigious and challenging projects. Our current client portfolio includes the Department of Transport, Transport for Scotland, National Highways, Welsh Government, South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA), Transport for London, Local Authorities, London Borough Councils, Civil Engineering Contractors and International Governments, for whom we undertake the planning, design and supervision of civil engineering and transport solutions to exceed our client’s requirements.

As a global multi-disciplinary company, we also work closely with our other sectors and regions around the world. Based in the UK, the Bridges team supports all sectors and regions on bids and the delivery of high profile projects.

Reporting to the Bridges Team Leader, you will provide technical support into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging schemes. As we operate in such a diverse marketplace, we can safely say that you will gain an experience of working on a wide and varied portfolio of projects, including new build and existing assets, which will enhance your skills and test your technical knowledge.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets, managing all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery exceeds client expectations, providing both direction and technical advice and leading by example where appropriate.

• Experience of providing technical leadership and advice to project team members
• Experience of applying sound independent engineering judgement in the development of projects
• Commercial awareness of engineering project delivery
• Maintain and extend a sound theoretical approach to the application of technology in engineering practice
• Discuss ideas and plan competently and with confidence
• Effective personal and social skills
• Experience of delivery to a project’s quality management system
• Have a sound knowledge and experience of the management of design risks

Qualifications & Experience

• Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in Structural / Civil Engineering
• Achieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent
• Have previous relevant experience including supervision of elements of large, complex structural engineering projects - bridges, retaining walls etc across both new build and existing assets.
