Job summary

Canning Generator Solutions Ltd is hiring an Advanced Bookkeeper (Part-Time) in Widnes. The role focuses on day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, payroll, VAT, and reporting within Xero.

You will report to the Operations Manager and Fractional Finance Director, contributing to both independent work and team collaboration. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, strong controls knowledge, and Excellence with Excel.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' bookkeeping or finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and financial controls.
• Excellent working knowledge of Xero.
• Experience processing payroll and pension schemes.
• Good understanding of VAT and HMRC compliance requirements.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage sales ledger activities, including invoicing and credit control.
• Process supplier invoices, reconcile supplier accounts and maintain purchase ledger records.
• Prepare and process weekly supplier payment runs.
• Complete daily bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process monthly payroll, pension submissions and HMRC reporting.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist with month-end procedures, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of management accounts.
• Maintain accurate accounting records within Xero.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls and company procedures.
• Liaise with HMRC, suppliers and other external stakeholders as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiencies.
