Job summary

eps.group services is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper in the Tring/Leighton Buzzard area for a hybrid role. You’ll manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a diverse client portfolio, with autonomy and support to develop professionally.

You’ll prepare VAT returns, manage accounts payable/receivable, produce monthly management accounts, and assist year-end activity. Strong cloud accounting skills (Xero, Sage or QuickBooks) and AAT level qualification are desirable.

Qualifications

• Solid bookkeeping experience, preferably in practice.
• Proficient with cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
• Meticulous attention to detail across multiple client accounts.
• Strong, client-focused communication and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Preparing VAT returns and HMRC compliance.
• Running day-to-day bookkeeping for a diverse client portfolio.
• Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll.
• Building strong client relationships as a trusted contact.
• Supporting year-end preparation and audits.
• Mentoring junior bookkeeping staff.

Based in the Tring / Leighton Buzzard area with flexible remote working on offer, this Senior Bookkeeper role pays £30,000 – £36,000 depending on experience, within a collaborative, supportive team that genuinely invests in its people.

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing VAT returns and keeping clients compliant with HMRC requirements
• Running day-to-day bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients
• Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll
• Building strong relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact
• Supporting year-end preparation and the audit process
• Helping to develop and mentor junior members of the bookkeeping team

What you'll bring:

• Solid bookkeeping or accounts experience, ideally gained within a practice
• Confident on cloud accounting software — Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• Meticulous attention to detail across multiple client accounts
• Strong, client-focused communication and a professional approach
• AAT qualified or equivalent (desirable)
