Job summary

Reed is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our busy practice in Southend-on-Sea. The role offers ownership of a varied client portfolio and the opportunity to work within a friendly, supportive team.

You will manage bookkeeping tasks, VAT submissions, bank reconciliations and liaison with clients. Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks or Sage and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of VAT and bookkeeping procedures.
• Experience using Xero, QuickBooks and/or Sage.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build client relationships.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across various sectors.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Processing and reviewing client records.
• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts.
• Liaising directly with clients and resolving bookkeeping queries.
• Supporting junior team members where required.
• Working with cloud-based accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.

A well-established and growing accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their busy team based in Southend-on-Sea.
