A renowned healthcare organization is seeking a full-time Senior Biomedical Scientist specializing in Haematology to join its dynamic team. An exciting opportunity exists for a Full Time, HCPC Registered Senior Biomedical Scientist to work within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion departments at Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals. The role requires experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a state registered BMS and an MSc degree. The successful candidate will support the 24/7 service, manage daily laboratory duties, and work independently to ensure efficient service delivery.
The laboratory serves a large GP catchment area, with diverse pathology including Neonatal screening and a large Haemoglobinopathy referral centre. Responsibilities include rotation between Haematology and Blood Transfusion, participating in all duties including night shifts, managing analysers, incident investigation, audits, and preparing for UKAS/MHRA accreditation. The candidate will oversee staff and stock management, analyser functioning, trending, and quality control, and support staff on the bench when necessary.

The post holder will analyze and report Clinical Haematology results, ensuring quality and compliance with standards. Duties include handling specimens, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting, preparing reagents, performing investigations, and providing scientific advice. The role involves participating in clinical audits, training, and development, and managing laboratory information systems and administrative tasks. As a discipline specialist, the Senior BMS will supervise and monitor staff, prioritize workflow, and ensure quality standards are met.
This post requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary range: £50,000 to £60,100 per year, depending on experience.
