An exciting opportunity has arisen in Blood Sciences within the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership (ESEL). We are a new organisation, jointly owned by Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Set up as an arms-length organisation, hosted by Barts Health NHS Trust, we have our own governance framework, with equal voice and voting rights for each trust. The Pathology Partnership is one of the largest NHS pathology providers, combining teams from each trust to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.
A comprehensive transformation initiative is underway to create a single, integrated pathology network spanning seven hospital laboratories, centered around The Royal London Hospital, a major trauma centre supporting various clinical specialties across our affiliated hospital sites.
This network offers extensive technical and leadership development opportunities, with a focus on career progression and succession planning.

We are seeking proactive, dynamic team members for the role of Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Clinical Biochemistry department.
The post holder must have a thorough understanding of automated biochemistry technologies and methodologies.
Effective leadership and management skills are essential, with the ability to work collaboratively towards shared goals.
The successful candidate will be based at RLH but may work flexibly across different teams and laboratories.
Participation in the Agenda for Change shift pattern is required to support clinical services, with a focus on night duties.
Candidates must be registered with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist and meet one of the following criteria:

The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership provides services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The partnership operates with a hub-and-spoke model, with RLH as the main hub.
Pathology services include Blood Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Cellular Pathology, Immunology, Cytogenetics, Molecular Hematology, and others. The total operating costs are approximately £126m per year, with a workforce of around 822 WTE. We are committed to our We Care values and fostering an inclusive, respectful work environment.
