Senior Biomedical Scientist – Histology

Tunbridge Wells Hospital | Pathology | Permanent | Full-Time

Up to £45,000.00 per annum, depending on experience

37.5 hours per week

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist at our Tunbridge Wells Hospital, you’ll bring relevant qualifications and laboratory experience in multidisciplinary biomedical science. You should have a good working knowledge of different analytical equipment across various techniques. You are a natural communicator and team player, sharing our commitment to quality.

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering quality pathology services and participating in out-of-hours service as required.
• Cutting 30 or more blocks per hour.
• Understanding histology processes, from specimen preparation to processing, embedding, and staining.
• Interacting with consultant histopathologists.
• Maintaining full UKAS compliance.
• Performing biomedical diagnostic testing, interpretation, reporting, and quality control.
• Keeping records of specimens, results, reagents, and consumables.
• Supporting the validation and assessment of new equipment and developing new diagnostic procedures to enhance patient care.

Qualifications and skills required:

• Relevant laboratory experience in multidisciplinary biomedical science.
• Good working knowledge of analytical equipment across various techniques.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding the importance of maintaining good customer relationships and providing high-quality service in a modern pathology laboratory.
