Job summary

Moderna is seeking a bioanalytical scientist to join the Ligand Binding Assays team in a fast-paced lab, developing and validating bioanalytical assays for pharmacodynamic and immunogenicity endpoints. You will work across functions to ensure robust assay performance and regulatory compliance, supporting clinical programs and data delivery.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and the use of advanced laboratory technologies, including AI-enabled tools, within a 70/30 in-office

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in biological science field and a minimum of 5 years of industry Biotech/pharmaceutical/CRO experience. MS with 3+ years of experience
  • Experience with Ligand Binding and/or Cell Based Assays is required
  • Candidates with experience doing PK, ADA, or nAb assays are preferred
  • Candidates with experience working in a regulated environment (GLP, GcLP, GMP) are preferred
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, effective communication, and collaboration are required
  • Knowledge of GcLP requirements and current regulatory expectations for analytical science
  • Experience with Watson LIMS and LabVantage eLBN is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, optimization, and validation of ligand-binding and cell-based assays to evaluate pharmacodynamic and immunogenicity endpoints for novel mRNA-derived proteins
  • Perform clinical sample testing across a range of biological matrices in GMP/GcLP compliant environments using LIMS systems
  • Deliver assay development and validation activities on schedule to support key program milestones
  • Maintain accurate experimental documentation using electronic lab notebooks
  • Support procurement, qualification, and implementation of analytical equipment
  • Contribute to laboratory operations to ensure an efficient and compliant working environment
  • Prepare SOPs, technical reports, and scientific presentations
  • Review data and reports to ensure regulatory and Moderna quality expectations are met
  • Develop fit-for-purpose laboratory manuals for clinical sample management and testing
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and Sample Management to define end-to-end clinical sample journey
