Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior BIM Technician to lead digital delivery of complex MEP projects in the UK. You will manage Revit MEP models, coordinate drawings, and mentor technicians within the Cardiff-based Buildings MEP team, collaborating with engineers and architects across education, industrial and commercial sectors.

You’ll develop BIM standards, support 3D coordination, and contribute to BIM execution plans, from early design through construction, ensuring compliant, clash-free information

Qualifications

• Strong experience producing and coordinating BIM models for MEP building projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Forma or Revizto.
• Practical experience modelling HVAC, ductwork, pipework, plumbing and electrical building-services systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of BIM processes, standards and construction documentation.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary models and resolve technical and spatial conflicts effectively.
• Experience managing Revit templates, content libraries and project information.
• Experience delivering Asset Information in accordance with the project BEP.
• Confident mentoring technicians and engineers promoting BIM best practice.
• Strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 2D building-services drawings would be advantageous.
• Experience using tools such as Bluebeam would be beneficial.
• A relevant architectural, engineering or construction qualification, certification, or equivalent industry experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’re a Senior BIM Technician with strong Revit MEP experience who wants to take a leading role in the digital delivery of complex building-services projects. At Stantec, you’ll join our Buildings MEP team in Cardiff, working alongside engineers, architects and other specialists across sectors including education, industrial and commercial development.

You’ll use your understanding of mechanical and electrical building services to create accurate, coordinated models and drawing packages—while helping to improve BIM standards, develop other technicians and strengthen digital delivery across the wider business.

You will lead and support the development of MEP design information, managing and coordinating Revit models, drawings, plans, sections and technical details in accordance with Stantec standards, client requirements, specifications and building regulations.

Working in collaboration with building-services engineers and architects, you’ll coordinate the location and routing of mechanical, electrical and public-health systems within the 3D environment. These will include HVAC, ductwork, pipework, plumbing, lighting, power, data, communications, containment, fire, security and life-safety systems.

You’ll manage Revit models, cloud platforms and content libraries, identifying discrepancies and resolving spatial or technical conflicts through the appropriate project channels. You will also contribute to BIM execution plans, project standards and quality-control procedures, helping teams produce accurate, consistent and clash-free information.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll provide technical guidance and mentorship to other technicians and MEP engineers in Revit MEP and BIM best practice. You’ll work with the UK BIM working group to implement corporate standards, align digital-delivery goals and support continuous improvement across the business.

You’ll provide input from early design stages to streamline BIM delivery and procedures from RIBA 1 through to RIBA 4. Your involvement may extend into tender and construction stages, including field reviews to support design development and verify construction information during project delivery.

Internally, you’ll strengthen BIM capability across the Cardiff team by developing technicians and engineers, improving standards and introducing better ways of working. You’ll also help Stantec respond to emerging BIM technologies and maintain a consistent approach to digital project delivery nationally.
