Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Senior BI Engineer to help shape data and analytics. The role spans Databricks and Power BI, delivering Gold-layer data products and semantic models.

You will work in a domain-focused agile squad with Data Modellers, Data Engineers and business stakeholders to deliver trusted analytics. Responsibilities include building Gold-layer data products, developing pipelines, translating KPI definitions into robust logic, and mentoring BI engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BI engineering or analytics engineering roles.
• Hands-on Databricks with SQL, Python and PySpark.
• Strong Power BI experience with semantic modelling and DAX.
• Relational and dimensional data modelling skills.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and Delta Lake concepts.
• Ability to translate KPIs into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable Gold-layer data products in Databricks.
• Develop pipelines for Gold-layer data and manage upstream dependencies.
• Create reusable semantic models and Power BI solutions.
• Optimise Power BI models and reports for performance.
• Ensure data quality, governance and security across BI solutions.
• Mentor BI Engineers and contribute to engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Data Modellers, Data Engineers and stakeholders.
