Job summary

Anaplan Inc in Manchester is seeking a Senior BI Developer/Analyst to own data domains end-to-end, from raw data to stakeholder-ready insights. You will design semantic layers and deliver self-serve reporting across delivery, quality, investment, and AI adoption metrics.

You will collaborate with engineering leadership, shape metrics, and mentor junior analysts, while applying DORA metrics and CI/CD data practices to ensure trustworthy data and impactful decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building production BI in a fast-paced software or tech environment.
• Python for the harder transforms and a strong working knowledge of development practices and tools (code repositories, build tools, scripting languages, agile development).
• Deep SQL expertise and demonstrated comfort with dimensional modelling against warehouses with hundreds of tables.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or eazyBI.
• Strong working knowledge of engineering intelligence, including DORA metrics, value-stream measurement, and CI/CD pipeline data.
• Excellent communication and consulting skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, shape ambiguous requirements, and explain data limitations to executives.
• High autonomy and the ability to own a domain end-to-end without needing a large support team.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian data model (Jira, Confluence, Jira Align, JSM Assets).
• Background in a software development agency, SaaS environment, or a setting requiring you to manage multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Act as a data domain holder for 2-3 subject areas from raw data to final stakeholder presentation.
• Design, build, and document semantic layers that translate complex data into simple, self-serve reporting.
• Contribute to the Engineering team with development tasks and test data to ensure quality and completeness.
• Partner with senior engineering leaders to translate ambiguous business questions into data answers.
• Consult and push back on requirements, identifying the most useful metrics and deciding what should and shouldn't be measured.
• Combine traditional metrics and AI telemetry to create meaningful measures of internal AI initiatives.
• Build and own dashboards tracking delivery, quality, dependency, investment, and AI adoption metrics.
• Advise on evolving AI/BI tooling landscape (Rovo, Atlassian Intelligence, embedded AI).
• Coach and mentor junior analysts, championing data best practices for scalable outputs.
