The Senior Battery Analyst will be a member of the Global Commercial and Markets Team within the Global Development Team at Brookfield Renewable Power and Transition.

As a Battery Storage Analyst, you will play a key role in understanding and reviewing revenue models for utility-scale battery projects across global markets. Brookfield aims to become the largest and most diversified developer and owner of battery storage worldwide. Your responsibilities include analyzing project economics, identifying and monitoring revenue streams, devising de-risking commercial plans, and implementing strategies to maximize risk-adjusted returns for large M&S opportunities and portfolio development. You will work closely with internal teams, portfolio companies, and external partners to support decision-making and project success. Additionally, you will engage with portfolio companies to support their battery business plans and foster growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Revenue Model Analysis: Conduct detailed research and analysis of revenue models for utility-scale battery storage projects, considering market structures, grid regulation, energy and non-energy market dynamics, and incentive programs.
  2. Portfolio Optimization: Evaluate the performance of existing battery storage assets and identify opportunities for optimization and increased value.
  3. Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate risks related to market volatility, policy changes, technological advances, and operational factors.
  4. Market Intelligence: Keep updated on industry trends, policies, and emerging technologies related to battery storage, providing insights for investment decisions.
  5. Cross-Project Learning: Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across the portfolio to foster continuous improvement and innovation.
  6. Due Diligence Support: Assist in evaluating new investment opportunities by providing expertise on battery storage economics and revenue potential.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement: Work with internal teams, external consultants, developers, and regulators to gather insights and facilitate project development.
  8. Reporting and Presentation: Prepare clear reports and presentations to communicate analysis results and recommendations effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in storage investment or battery development and asset optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel modeling, data analysis, and familiarity with Python or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and revenue streams for utility-scale battery projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams globally.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work and results.
