Client Server Ltd. in London is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python) to own the orchestration engine and drive scalable backend systems in a high-velocity environment.

You will design for unpredictable workloads using Python, FastAPI and AWS, and own infrastructure end-to-end with Terraform and CI/CD, influencing product direction. Based in London with the flexibility to work from home twice a week, you will collaborate with customers and a small engineering team to deliver

Qualifications

• Advanced backend Python coding skills, including FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design and scalability.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud tech stack (AWS).
• Familiar with IaC, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD and GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities

• Own the orchestration engine for scheduling, execution, state, retries and cancellation in a Python-based stack.
• Own infrastructure end-to-end, write Terraform, monitor and resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with customers to solve real-world problems and influence the product roadmap.
• Help shape engineering standards, culture and ways of working within a small, ambitious team.

Senior Backend Software Engineer / Developer (Python) London / WFH to £120k

Are you a technologist with start-up experience looking for your next opportunity?

You could be progressing your career at a tech start-up that is producing an AI native data pipelining platform.

As a Senior Backend Software, you'll own the orchestration engine that controls scheduling, execution, state, retries, concurrency and cancellation, using Python, FastAPI and AWS in a high velocity production environment. You'll design for unpredictable workloads, solving challenges around capacity, back pressure and isolation, while building the AI native layer that will underpin the next generation of the product.

You'll own your infrastructure end-to-end, writing Terraform, monitoring what you ship and resolving issues in production. Working across the full development lifecycle, you'll take features from idea through to production, collaborate directly with customers to solve complex real-world problems and use your technical insight to influence the product roadmap. As part of a small, ambitious engineering team, you'll also have a genuine opportunity to shape engineering standards, culture and ways of working.

Location / WFH:

You'll join colleagues in the London office (close to Waterloo) with flexibility to work from home twice a week.

About you:

• You have advanced backend Python coding skills, including FastAPI
• You have a good understanding of system architecture, design and scalability
• You have experience of working on distributed systems
• You're familiar with other technology in the stack including: AWS, IaC using Terraform, Docker, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, CI/CD, GitHub actions, Blacksmith runners
• You're collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills, keen to input into technical discussion and decision making
