Job summary

Publicis Digital Experience is seeking a senior backend architect to own system design across distributed services and data pipelines. You will architect APIs, implement secure, scalable patterns, and drive observability and reliability across the platform.

You will work with Python, FastAPI, Flask, and modern cloud-native stacks (AWS/GCP), while advancing CI/CD practices and collaborative development. This role emphasizes leadership without direct people management and a strong focus on

Qualifications

• Extensive backend engineering experience with ownership over services or distributed systems.
• Expertise in Python, FastAPI, and Flask with modern backend patterns.
• Strong understanding of microservices, concurrency, async programming, and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB).
• Experience with PySpark and Databricks, including medallion architecture.
• Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
• Strong CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions, Argo, or similar tools.
• Deep knowledge of observability practices—logs, metrics, traces, performance analysis.
• Proven ability to write clean, testable production code.

Responsibilities

• Architect distributed backend services and APIs.
• Design modular, observable, scalable backend components for orchestration and data pipelines.
• Define patterns for microservices, caching, queuing, resiliency, and error handling.
• Build robust service-to-service communication (REST, gRPC, event-driven).
• Implement secure auth, rate limiting, and multi-tenant controls.
• Design and maintain data pipelines using PySpark and Databricks with medallion architecture.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for marketing performance data at scale.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure clean, well-modeled data assets.
• Write maintainable, production-ready code and integrate with external APIs.
• Lead CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code; mentor engineers.
• Improve platform reliability through observability, testing, and alerting.
