Job summary

Wise London is seeking an experienced backend engineer to own and scale the recipient management product. You will work on an autonomous team, building the backend powering recipient experiences and collaborating across engineers, designers, PMs, and analysts.

The ideal candidate has extensive Java experience, strong knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and a customer-focused mindset. This role is based in London with Wise's international engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Years of Java 5+ knowledge.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas.
• Strong product mindset and passion for customer experience, data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points.
• Collaborating with others and bringing people together to solve problems.
• Experience in designing, deploying and maintaining clean RESTful APIs.
• Adheres to best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback.
• Enjoy writing testable code and Test Driven Development.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the backend for the recipient management product.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and analysts to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Own end-to-end experience from platform powering recipient management to customer-facing interfaces.
