Job summary

Coder is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Enterprise Experience team in the UK. You will build and scale production-grade backend services in Go, working across backend, platform, and QA engineers to deliver reliable systems for large organizations.

You will design features end-to-end, evolve architecture for long-term scalability, and improve upgrade safety and performance under regulated, air-gapped environments. Collaboration and strong debugging are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant Go production work.
• Strong understanding of Go's concurrency model and real-world load debugging.
• Experience designing and operating relational databases in production.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; collaborative team player.
• Self-motivated engineer comfortable tackling hard technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design and build new features end to end, from technical design through production rollout.
• Design and implement backend architecture changes that support scalability.
• Investigate scalability bottlenecks under production-like load.
• Improve database migration safety and upgrade reliability.
• Own the backend side of issues surfaced by operators and administrators.
• Document the design, implementation, and tradeoffs of the systems.
• Participate in code reviews, RFC discussions, and on-call rotations.
