The Guardian is seeking a Senior Backend Software Developer to join the Apps Experience team on a 12 month fixed contract. You’ll work with Scala and Typescript in an AWS environment within a cross-functional, collaborative team culture.

This role offers hybrid working with one day in our Kings Cross office and four days remote, and the opportunity to build tools for investigative journalism and digital distribution across platforms. Salary £72,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Scala backend and TypeScript frontend.
• Experience in AWS-based environments.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional, fast‑moving team.
• Knowledge of engineering best practices and collaboration.
