Job summary

Arrive, a global mobility platform, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to shape its platform with PHP 8+ and Laravel, driving a microservices architecture and platform ownership beyond pure coding.

You will work with AWS, Docker, MySQL, and Redis, applying TDD to improve reliability, and contribute to an event-driven design that enhances performance for travellers and cities worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of development experience.
• Essential: Strong proficiency in PHP 8+ / Laravel, MySQL, and Docker.
• Experience: Proven track record in Microservices and Event-Driven Design.
• Cloud: Solid understanding of AWS core services.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Development: Design and implement scalable microservices using PHP 8.4 and Laravel.
• Infrastructure Ownership: Leverage AWS and Docker to deploy and manage services.
• Data Integrity: Optimize MySQL for transactional reliability and utilize MongoDB or Redis for high-performance data needs.
• Event-Driven Design: Build decoupled systems using asynchronous patterns (SQS/Event systems) to ensure marketplace resilience.
• Testing & Quality: Implement TDD (Unit and Integration) to protect our core revenue streams.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in PHP 8+ and Laravel. You will be a key architect in our shift toward a robust microservices and event-driven architecture. This isn’t just a "coding" role; we expect our seniors to be platform-aware, helping us move away from a "throw it over the wall" culture to one of true engineering ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Development: Design and implement scalable microservices using PHP 8.4 and Laravel.

• Infrastructure Ownership: Leverage AWS and Docker to deploy and manage services. We value engineers who can navigate container orchestration independently.

• Data Integrity: Optimize MySQL for transactional reliability and utilize MongoDB or Redis for high-performance data needs.

• Event-Driven Design: Build decoupled systems using asynchronous patterns (SQS/Event systems) to ensure marketplace resilience.

• Testing & Quality: Implement TDD (Unit and Integration) to protect our core revenue Streams

Required Skills:

• 5-8 years of Development experience

Desired Skills:

• (The "Platform-Aware" edge): Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform).

• Knowledge of GoLang for high-performance services or Lambdas.

• Experience with OpenSearch and Redis.

• Familiarity with VueJS to assist in full-stack collaboration.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes.
