Job Description:

What is Grafana Cloud?

Grafana Cloud is our composable observability platform that integrates metrics, logs, and traces with Grafana. It allows our customers to leverage the best open source observability software – including Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, and Tempo – without the overhead of installing, maintaining and scaling their own observability stack.

The Databases team owns the telemetry databases that are OSS projects supporting Grafana Cloud and on-premise solutions. These are multi-tenant distributed systems implemented in Go, running on Kubernetes across major Cloud providers (GCP, Azure, AWS). Our team also works on OpenTelemetry and related projects.

As a company, we are remote-first and global, embracing diverse backgrounds to build inclusive teams where everyone can contribute uniquely. Our tech stack primarily consists of services written in Go, running on multiple Kubernetes clusters leveraging Cloud object storage.

What will you be doing?

  • Influence our roadmap and develop your career objectives
  • Collaborate with your team to deliver new features and iterate based on feedback
  • Drive projects from ideation to operational deployment
  • Contribute to open-source projects beyond your immediate team
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems ensuring reliability and performance
  • Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of services
  • Mentor team members, participate in design discussions, and collaborate effectively
  • Learn new skills and deepen understanding of our cloud products and distributed systems

Since we are remote-first, good communication skills and an independent attitude are essential.

What are we looking for in you?

  • A motivated self-starter with a proactive approach
  • Customer-focused with a passion for creating intuitive products
  • Pragmatic problem-solver capable of breaking down complex challenges
  • Excellent collaborator and communicator in a remote environment

Requirements:

  • Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go preferred, familiarity with Python, C, C++, Rust is a plus)
  • Experience delivering projects from requirements to deployment
  • Experience with cloud-based software development or systems engineering
  • Ability to write clean, robust, and maintainable code

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Operational experience with Grafana and Prometheus (including on-call roles)
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Experience with on-call, SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code

In the UK, the salary range is £84,841 - £106,051, with benefits including equity and bonuses. Compensation varies by location and experience.
