Job summary

Sedex is seeking a senior software engineer to join one of our product delivery teams. You’ll primarily work on Kotlin-based backend services with occasional React.js frontend work, collaborating with product managers and designers to ship value quickly and securely.

You’ll own features end-to-end, advocate for DevOps and CI/CD, mentor peers, and help maintain high-quality, reliable software while embracing AI-assisted tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial experience in software engineering using agile methodologies and TDD.
• Proficient in backend languages: Kotlin, Java, Go; frontend exposure with React.js (optional).
• Strong understanding of modern architectures, APIs, and service-oriented design.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• CI/CD and DevOps mindset with focus on customer value and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services with a Kotlin stack.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand customer needs and deliver features.
• Own features end-to-end, from planning to production deployment, with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Promote data-driven decision making and monitor production systems for operability.
