Rightmove is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver scalable backend features for the platform. You will work within autonomous, cross-functional teams, shaping solutions for millions of users and thousands of agents.

You will own technical decisions, focus on performance, and collaborate with product, design, and testing peers to ensure high-quality delivery while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Proven track record leading complex backend projects.
• Deep understanding of TDD practices and CI/CD pipeline optimization.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building new features using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape solutions and priorities.
• Owning key technical decisions and delivering projects end-to-end.
• Balancing feature work with technical debt and pragmatic trade-offs.
• Writing secure, high-quality, extensible code for current and future needs.
• Communicating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals.
• Championing new technologies that add value and align with roadmaps.
• Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of ownership and growth.
