Job summary

St. James's Place is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build and operate backend services and data pipelines for the Investment Platform. You will collaborate with Architects, DevOps and senior stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure and compliant systems that enable data-driven decision making.

You’ll drive engineering standards, CI/CD, IaC, observability and incident response, while mentoring engineers and shaping the platform roadmap for future needs.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing, building and supporting scalable data and backend platform solutions using Python and SQL.
• Experience in Asset Management or Financial Services with data challenges in investment platforms.
• Hands-on Airflow and dbt ownership end-to-end, including DAGs and projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, development and evolution of Investment Platform services and data pipelines.
• Set and enforce engineering standards, best practices and architectural principles across the platform.
• Provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle and mentor engineers.
