Senior Backend Software Engineer - Go
Location: Hybrid - Birmingham (2 days in office)
Salary: £70k-£80k plus benefits

Are you a Back End developer who enjoys building clean, scalable systems using Go and modern cloud technologies? Do you want to work in a fast-growing SaaS scale-up where your work will have real impact and reach?

We are hiring for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing product engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and building robust services and API's that power an ambitious platform used by customers around the world.
Your day-day responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain Back End services using Go and gRPC
• Work with infrastructure tools like Kubernetes, AWS, and Terraform to ensure systems are scalable and reliable
• Collaborate with product, Front End, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to best practices across the team
• Support and mentor other developers, contributing to a strong engineering culture

Tech stack includes:

• Go (Golang), gRPC, PostgreSQL
• AWS (ECS, Lambda, etc), Kubernetes, Terraform
• CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, and modern cloud tooling

Ideally, you'll have experience with:

• Strong experience building Back End systems with Go
• Familiarity with gRPC, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
• Solid software engineering fundamentals, with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Enjoyment of team collaboration and delivering working software to real users
