Job summary

Factor is seeking an engineer to lead backend development of scalable data pipelines, pricing engines, and APIs that support real-time decisions for energy retailers and customers. You will join a senior team that values ownership, curiosity, and engineering excellence, with AI tools used daily to multiply impact and velocity.

You’ll work on designing core systems in TypeScript, Rust, and AWS, delivering robust data processing and thoughtful interfaces that scale globally.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, and modern cloud architecture (AWS, serverless).
• Track record of designing and maintaining clean, maintainable systems that handle complex data and business logic.
• Experience in the energy sector or data-heavy, mission-critical industries is valued.
• Able to work autonomously in a fast-moving startup with ownership and initiative.
• Strong collaborative mindset with low ego and high responsibility.
• Excited to apply skills to the energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend features and services with emphasis on scalability, performance, and resilience.
• Design and evolve Factor’s data and application architecture (TypeScript, Rust, AWS, etc.).
• Solve end-to-end problems across the stack, from data ingestion to APIs and integrations.
• Contribute to engineering standards, peer reviews, and design discussions to raise the technical bar.
• Leverage AI and automation to accelerate development, testing, and deployment.
• Help shape a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and ownership.
