Job summary

Encord is seeking a Senior Engineer for our Foundations team in London. You will own significant backend projects, shaping architecture from design to deployment, and ensuring performance at scale.

You will build robust distributed systems, contribute to high-throughput APIs, and help teammates improve through code reviews and pairing. You’ll thrive solving hard data-intensive problems with pragmatic, first-principles thinking.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building large-scale backend infrastructure applications.
• Fluency in at least one high-level language (Python/TypeScript).
• Strong grounding in distributed systems concepts and scaling.
• Experience owning services in production with monitoring & rollout.
• Experience with data migrations or re-architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of significant projects within our database and processing systems, from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Build robust distributed systems and reason about failure modes under load.
• Contribute to performant APIs and protocols used directly by customers.
• Tackle complex domains and scale challenges with simple, effective solutions.
• Raise the bar through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring teammates.
