We’re making electric vehicle ownership as smart and simple as possible, by building the world’s largest, public charging platform. In just four years, Octopus Electroverse has grown to become one of the largest eMobility players globally, with over 850,000 connected electric vehicle chargers and a customer ecosystem spanning web, iOS, Android, CarPlay, Android Auto & Automotive OS, and more. But it’s just the start: we’re expanding internationally, working with more automotive and tech partners, building exciting new features at scale, and creating the integrated charging experiences of the future — all to make public EV charging super simple for customers.

Electroverse is a multifunctional team comprising product, development, commercial, operations, marketing, partnerships, and more, all focused on making Octopus Electroverse the go-to name in public EV charging. We’re seeking smart individuals with an interest in this space who can help us achieve this goal. We want someone passionate about coding, curious, and eager to learn. You’ll work alongside the backend engineering team that provides services for our Electroverse ecosystem in the electric vehicle and electrification space, focusing on developing the business proposition for external partnerships and APIs.

Our project is at an exciting stage in its lifecycle; it’s maturing quickly but still offers many opportunities to work on significant features and scale the product to meet new challenges, giving you a chance to make a substantial impact within the team and the wider industry. You’ll work with a small, high-energy project team to bring the product to life — an exciting opportunity to work like a start-up within a rapidly scaling EnTech business.

What you’ll do…

  1. Help develop our API proposition used by high-profile, global car manufacturers (OEMs) and other businesses to accelerate their electrification journey.
  2. Support the development and scaling of services that comprise the Electroverse ecosystem.
  3. Collaborate in a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality products and optimal implementation for our clients.
  4. Engage with partners and clients during delivery and expansion, and contribute internally to the evolution of the Electroverse business.

What you'll have…

  1. A passion to create something amazing, with a mindset to learn and grow with the company.
  2. Comfort in speaking directly with clients and partners, balancing technical details with business goals and product roadmap understanding.
  3. Strong experience with the Python ecosystem, 3+ years preferred.
  4. Knowledge of RESTful APIs, preferably within Python / Django ecosystems.
  5. Experience maintaining versioned APIs and asynchronous processing systems (AMQP, Celery).
  6. Skills in monitoring, debugging applications and infrastructure, and maintaining high-quality documentation for external-facing products.
  7. Ability to support and present technical solutions, collaborating effectively with external clients via written and verbal communication.
  8. Experience processing large volumes of data.
  9. Ability to discuss vision and features within a team, proposing creative solutions.
  10. Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment practices.
  11. Proficiency in writing robust, fault-tolerant software and understanding of Git.
  12. Knowledge of protocols used within the EV charging industry is helpful but not required.
