Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Senior Backend Data Engineer to design and scale backend and data systems powering content understanding across the platform. You will own projects end-to-end from design to operation, collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and product teams.

Based in London or Stockholm, you will enjoy flexible hybrid work with some in-person meetings while maintaining remote work options. This role offers exposure to AI/LLM workflows and large-scale multimedia processing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in backend and/or data engineering.
• Strong experience building and scaling large distributed systems.
• Proficient in Java, Scala, and/or Python with focus on reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend and data systems powering content intelligence.
• Own engineering projects end-to-end from design to operation.
• Build reliable infrastructure for high-throughput data and content processing.
• Contribute to AI and LLM-enabled workflows and model integrations.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and data science teams on technical plans.
