Job summary

Coltech in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Azure Databricks Data Engineer to design, develop and deliver scalable data solutions across HR tech environments. You will build reliable data pipelines and analytics with a strong focus on automation, testing, security and production quality.

You will collaborate with engineering, product and HR teams to drive data initiatives, implement CI/CD, and ensure robust data governance and performance at scale.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Advanced Spark development with Python or Scala; strong SQL.
• Experience with ADLS Gen2 and Azure SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of Azure analytics services and Azure identity (SPN/SAMI/UAMI).
• Experience designing data lake/warehouse/mesh and integration solutions.
• ETL development with Informatica/SSIS/Talend.
• Experience in an Agile SDLC environment; CI/CD with Git/GitHub.
• Linux scripting (bash/PowerShell) and Docker exposure.
• Airflow/Control-M/Autosys for orchestration; Kafka streaming.
• Fluent English communication; Terraform/YAML/Puppet familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines and analytics using Azure Databricks and Data Factory.
• Build data products supporting HR and employee lifecycle processes.
• Translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
• Develop data lake, data warehouse and data mesh solutions using Azure services.
• Work with large, multi-format datasets; implement automated testing and CI/CD.
• Build observability and monitor production health; support incidents.
• Ensure security, reliability, compliance and performance standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, HR and cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to long-term scalability and sustainability decisions.
