Job summary

Microlise is looking for a Senior Software Engineer AWS to join a 150-strong team ranging from Apprentices to Solution Architects. You’ll contribute across diverse projects with regular stand-ups, bug fixes, design work and mentoring for junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• Commercial experience as a Software Engineer in an Agile environment.
• Strong development experience using C# and .NET technologies.
• Experience developing, deploying and supporting applications within AWS.
• Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM and CloudWatch.
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures, scalability, security and resilience in AWS.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts, including SOLID principles.
• Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and relational databases.
• Understanding of Microservices architecture.
• Experience with unit testing and producing high-quality maintainable code.
• Knowledge of design patterns and software optimisation techniques.
• Understanding testing approaches and software quality practices.
• Experience participating in code reviews, sprint ceremonies and collaborative development practices.
• Ability to coach, mentor and support less experienced engineers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborative approach and excellent communication skills.
• Passion for technology, continuous learning and personal development.
• Positive, proactive mindset and desire to contribute to team and business success.

Responsibilities

• Involved in stand-ups, fixing bugs, project reviews and design tasks, and supporting junior team members.
• Participate in sprint reviews, demos, product release cycles and reports.
