Job summary

Forsyth Barnes Consultancy is seeking a Senior AWS Data Engineer to own the design and delivery of scalable data products for analytics and operations in a 12-month fixed-term engagement in Nottingham. You will build robust ETL/ELT pipelines, define data models, and implement automated quality controls to ensure timely, reliable datasets for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience building data pipelines on AWS.
• Proven ability to model data for analytics and ML use cases.
• Strong knowledge of data quality, observability and governance.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python; IaC tooling experience required.
• Experience with streaming/batch frameworks (Kafka, Kinesis, Spark).
• Able to influence stakeholders and operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and delivery-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end data pipelines on AWS to ingest and store datasets.
• Develop data models, schemas and documentation for analytics/ML.
• Implement data quality frameworks and SLA monitoring.
• Design data contracts, lineage and governance solutions.
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts and engineers to translate requirements.
• Optimize pipeline performance and cost across AWS services.
• Mentor engineers on best practices and participate in on-call rotations.
