Job summary

Forsyth Barnes Consultancy is helping a freight and logistics client recruit an AWS platform engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will design, deliver and operate an AWS data platform, owning IaC, pipelines and platform tooling to secure, reliable and cost-efficient data flows.

Requirements include hands-on AWS experience, Terraform or CDK, CI/CD pipelines, lakehouse concepts, multi-account setups and FinOps awareness. Hybrid Nottingham.

Qualifications

• Proven platform engineering or DevOps experience for data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and IaC tools such as Terraform or CDK.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and pipeline development.
• Understanding of lakehouse concepts, data ingestion patterns and serving architectures.
• Strong security, observability and operational excellence mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate scalable AWS infrastructure for data workloads using IaC.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform and data product deployments.
• Implement lakehouse and serving layer patterns to support analytics and ML workloads.
• Apply security, governance and compliance controls across the platform.
• Monitor platform health and lead performance tuning and incident response.
• Manage platform costs and optimisation initiatives (FinOps).
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to define platform APIs and operational playbooks.
