Job summary

GCS Recruitment seeks an senior AWS Cloud Application Engineer to drive cloud adoption and modernisation within a major financial services client. The role is hands-on, partnering with engineering, security and architecture teams to establish best practices in a regulated enterprise.

You will design AWS standards, guide migration efforts, and mentor engineers while improving developer experience and delivery throughput across multiple delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with extensive AWS application development experience.
• Deep understanding of AWS services, cloud-native architectures and developer tooling.
• Experience with AWS Step Functions and distributed application architectures.
• Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, CI/CD and automation.
• Ability to operate in complex enterprise environments and influence technical decision-making.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience driving adoption of new technologies, standards and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AWS engineering standards, guardrails and reusable development patterns
• Support application modernisation and cloud migration initiatives
• Help engineering teams adopt AWS services, tooling and best practices
• Conduct technical research, proof-of-concepts and architecture assessments
• Drive improvements in developer experience and software delivery practices
• Partner with engineering, platform, security and architecture teams
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, coaching and mentoring
• Influence engineering direction and cloud adoption across multiple delivery teams
