Job summary

Harnham in Oxford is seeking an AWS Engineer to become the AWS SME within a growing cloud consultancy. You will design, build and support scalable AWS infrastructure and help shape a greenfield AWS environment.

Join a small engineering team with autonomy and technical ownership, collaborating across cloud, data and AI initiatives while mentoring junior engineers and driving governance and best practices. The role offers hybrid work and opportunities to influence architecture and multi-cloud

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on AWS engineering and architecture experience.
• Experience with Terraform and IaC principles.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, security and automation.
• Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, AWS CLI or similar.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience introducing, scaling or modernising cloud platforms.
• Azure exposure or wider multi-cloud experience desirable.
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Security Specialty advantageous.
• Consultancy experience or exposure to AI/LLM infrastructure beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support scalable, secure and resilient AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Establish AWS best practices, governance frameworks and engineering standards.
• Build AWS Landing Zones and help shape a greenfield AWS capability.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and drive automation initiatives.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve cloud delivery and operational efficiency.
• Partner closely with Azure engineers to support a collaborative multi-cloud environment.
• Act as the AWS Subject Matter Expert, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.
• Engage with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business requirements into cloud solutions.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a collaborative technology and consulting business specialising in cloud, digital transformation and data solutions. With an established Azure capability and growing demand for AWS services, they're looking to bring in an experienced AWS engineer to help build and mature their AWS offering.

This is a high-impact role within a small engineering team, offering significant autonomy, technical ownership and the opportunity to influence architecture, standards and best practices across the business.

THE ROLE

• Design, build and support scalable, secure and resilient AWS cloud infrastructure
