Allied World in London is seeking an underwriting support professional to assist the Property department both in London and remotely with the USA office, developing technical underwriting capabilities.

You will perform quote preparation, policy/endorsement processing, account analysis, and liaise with brokers and internal teams. The role emphasizes accuracy, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work with tight deadlines while building relationships in the London market.

Description of the role

This position is responsible for providing underwriting support to the Property department in the London office and remotely the USA office, whilst developing technical underwriting capabilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• General underwriting functions including underwriting submission review, account research, pricing analysis, review of terms and conditions, preparation for client meetings, exposures and completion of underwriting worksheet.
• Preparation of quotes and invoices in the underwriting system as directed by underwriters.
• Timely processing of Policy/Endorsements onto the underwriting system.
• Perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines which to include thorough review of underwriting application/submission.
• General assistance during underwriting/brokering process.
• Enter and maintain information with various in-house underwriting systems and generate various reports as required.
• Liaise with underwriters and brokers as well as other internal departments as required.
• Perform underwriting referrals with more senior underwriters / manager following account analysis, including thorough reviews of underwriting application/submissions.
• Assist with the development of account pricing/recommendation/peer review/referrals with more senior underwriters.
• Accountable for the maintenance of underwriting files in an orderly and consistent manner and in accordance with the underwriting guidelines, including filing and scanning of underwriting documents.
• Stay current with respect to major market and industry issues and developments
• Develop a market presence and build relationships within the London market whilst representing and promoting Allied World in a professional manner, via attendance at key, relevant client/broker meetings, and other social outings as applicable.
• Corresponding with brokers with respect to all administrative issues, including chasing premium; final contract value adjustments and outstanding underwriting information.
• Ensuring receipt of and review of outstanding information (including underlying/followed policies) to ensure consistency with the terms and conditions agreed at binding.
• Supporting the departmental Vice President by producing regular Management Information and bespoke reports as required.
• Other duties as may be assigned

Person Specification

• Must be highly articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – required for significant liaison with clients, brokers, others teams within Allied World and building strong working relationships.
• Highly computer literate, with an advanced level proficiency using an underwriting system. Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is a must, knowledge of Genius and Openbox would be a distinct advantage.
• Methodical approach to work, strong organization skills; capable of dealing with tight reporting deadlines and conflicting priorities.
• Good attention to detail and quantitative skills.
• Overall, team player with collaborative outlook – acting as a role model for more junior members of the team.
• Language skills: fluent in English. Another European Language would be an advantage.
• Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours as may be required.
