Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Avionics Design Engineer in Oxford to lead the design and integration of avionic systems, ensuring compliance with OEM certifications. You will translate concepts into detailed designs, capture customer requirements, and guide production improvements within a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a strong aviation background in avionics, experience with certification standards (FAR/CS 27/29, EASA/CAA Part-21J), and proficiency in AutoCAD and harness

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent required.

  • Experience with design lifecycle management and configuration control.

Job description

As Senior Avionics Design Engineer based in Oxford, you will lead the design and integration of avionic systems, ensuring compliance with OEM Type Certificates and certification standards. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your duties involve translating concepts into detailed designs, capturing customer requirements, and providing guidance to optimise production. You will apply Systems Engineering methods throughout the project lifecycle, supporting risk management, testing, and certification processes. This permanent role offers a negotiable salary and requires expertise in avionic system design, requirement interpretation, and collaborative project delivery. A leading aerospace organisation, is looking for an experienced Avionics Design Engineer at their Oxford site. What you''ll be doing:
  • Lead the design and integration of avionic systems to meet customer needs and certification standards.
  • Translate concepts into detailed, compliant designs aligned with OEM TypeCertificates.
  • Manage all avionic activities within a multi-disciplinary environment, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Capture and interpret customer requirements, providing guidance to optimise design and production.
  • Apply Systems Engineering practices, tools, and methods throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support risk management, testing, and certification processes, including ground and flight testing.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and production teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain technical competency and stay updated with latest technology developments.
What you''ll bring:
  • A strong aviation background specialising in avionics Solid knowledge of aircraft systems, software safety analysis, and certification standards (FAR/CS 27 andamp; 29, EASA/CAA Part-21J).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other electrical/harness design tools.
  • Experience with design lifecycle management and configuration control.
  • An engineering degree or equivalent, with ongoing professional accreditation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Eligibility for SC security clearance and the right to work in the UK.
