Job description

Senior Automation Test Engineer
Leeds (Hybrid - 2-3 days in the office)
Circa £60k DOE + excellent benefits

Why are we hiring?

Are you passionate about building scalable test automation frameworks from the ground up? Want to help shape quality-first engineering in a growing tech business?

We're working with a well-established and forward-thinking technology company based in Leeds, who are investing heavily in improving their Test capability across multiple product lines. With green tech ambitions and a strong engineering culture, this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of automation strategy and make a real impact.

They're now looking for an experienced Senior Automation Test Engineer to lead that journey.

The Job

As a Senior Automation Test Engineer, you'll take the lead in designing and implementing automation frameworks for UI, API, integration and regression testing. You'll work closely with Developers, Product Managers, and DevOps in a collaborative Agile environment, embedding best practices and helping shape the testing strategy for the future.

You'll be hands-on from day one - creating scalable automation suites, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring quality is built into every stage of the SDLC. There's also the opportunity to mentor junior testers and influence the wider engineering roadmap.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in QA/testing, with a strong focus on automation
  • Proven track record of building automation frameworks from scratch
  • Hands-on with tools like Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or similar
  • Skilled in at least one programming language (C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript)
  • Experience working in Agile teams and modern software delivery pipelines
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Bonus Skills:
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (eg Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman or RestAssured
  • Exposure to performance or load testing
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS or Azure

What's in it for you?
  • Salary circa £60k DOE
  • Hybrid working model (2-3 days per week in Leeds office)
  • 25 days annual holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • Personal development & training budget
  • Cycle to Work scheme and other staff benefits
  • Ownership of automation strategy and room to grow
