Wood is recruiting for an Automation Hardware Engineer to join our System Integration (SI) team within our Digital Consulting business, focusing on the electrical hardware for a PLC across discrete automation projects.
This is a hybrid role based at our Northampton office, with the exception of travel to site as required.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The Role
The Engineer will be responsible for the initial design of the physical elements of the controls system through to supervising and supporting the actual build. You will join a small team who support exciting projects across high-profile clients within the Digital Consulting business.
As an Automation Hardware Engineer, you will have the expert knowledge to assist in the implementation of a variety of projects, specialising in the hardware design of the electrical controls.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Controls / Hardware engineer with a positive and proactive approach to ensuring continuous improvements, customer satisfaction and safety performance, who is looking for a role that provides technical challenges and variety.

Our Systems Integration (SI) team works with a variety of high-profile clients across the energy sector, delivering bespoke essential automation and control solutions that enable a safer and more efficient operation.
Within SI, we are architecting our clients' digital ecosystems to be inherently safe, cybersecure and operable. Within our teams we integrate client source systems across their IT, Operational Technology (OT) environments, securely pushing OT data into IT systems as a foundation for transformation.
