DESCRIPTION

At Amazon, we are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our team at the Fulfillment Center (FC) in MAN2, Warrington. This role prioritizes safety and involves troubleshooting, designing, implementing, and documenting control solutions for material handling systems. The engineer will liaise with internal and external resources, provide training to RME Technicians, and ensure safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing specifications and technical details for equipment, materials, and services.
  2. Diagnosing PLC control issues and developing PLC ladder code changes.
  3. Familiarity with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC processes and I/O modules.
  4. Analyzing and testing engineering solutions and components.
  5. Collaborating with IT, FC Software, and Operations Engineering to develop controls knowledge and training materials.
  6. Conducting incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation.
  7. Designing industrial engineering solutions for material handling modules within Europe.
  8. Producing technical documentation, including flow diagrams, layouts, and schedules.
  9. Supporting the commissioning of new automation systems.
  10. Participating in control projects and initiatives at local and EU levels.
  11. Applying value engineering and analysis techniques.
  12. Adhering to health and safety procedures and proactively addressing potential issues.
  13. Using AutoCAD for schematic and conveyor layout development and maintenance.
  14. Ensuring compliance with industry standards such as QS 9000 and ISO 9001.
  15. Contributing to the Control System SharePoint site and maintaining updated documentation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in control systems, including PLC design, development, and support.
  • Experience with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting.
  • AutoCAD experience in control layout and schematics.
  • Knowledge of material handling, flow, and capacity optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Effective communication skills in a multilingual environment.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and proactive.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Advanced experience in industrial engineering, project management, and implementation.
