Job description

Summary

Freedom Networks is seeking a candidate capable of performing LV & HV switching, isolation, earthing, identifying points of work, and issuing safety documentation on construction and asset replacement projects within the distribution network.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Planning outages, producing switching programmes, and liaising with System Control.
2. Making dead, isolating, and earthing high voltage electrical networks.
3. Ensuring a safe working environment during high voltage operations.
4. Identifying and releasing apparatus for work through Safety Documents and Permits to Work.
5. Conducting high voltage testing and fault location.
6. Re-energising the network upon completion.
7. Ensuring on-site compliance with Freedom’s SHE policies and safety instructions.
8. Implementing safety rules, instructions, standing orders, and procedures.
9. Preparing project files in accordance with company policies and CDM Regulations.
10. Carrying out Risk Assessments at all project stages.
11. Maintaining statutory records, certificates, licenses, and notifications.
12. Promoting a safety culture proactively.
13. Overseeing work activities for effective and timely completion.
14. Completing accurate records such as as-builts and work sheets.
15. Coordinating shutdowns and Permits to Work with control centers.
16. Collaborating with site managers, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders for smooth project execution.
17. Developing and mentoring trainees.

Qualifications and experience:

• Experience with SAP duties on 11kV - 132kV networks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Current/Recent SAP authorization on the UKPN network at 11kV - 132kV.
