Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is assisting in recruiting an experienced NPG Senior Authorised Person for a long-term contract across the Yorkshire 11kV network. The role covers switching, safety submissions, asset replacement, and coordination of planned outages.

You will work Monday to Friday on site, supporting distribution projects and network maintenance while ensuring compliance with NPG safety rules and robust safety documentation. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Current or previous NPG authorisations or approvals.
• Extensive experience on 11kV distribution networks.
• Solid knowledge of switching procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Act as Senior Authorised Person on the network, performing switching, isolations, earthing and restoration.
• Prepare and implement switching schedules per NPG rules.
• Issue, receive and cancel safety documentation including Permits to Work.
• Support 11kV/33kV cable, substation, overhead line and asset replacement works.
• Coordinate outages with Network Control and site teams.
• Ensure works comply with safety rules and safe systems of work.
• Support commissioning, energisation and restoration activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate switching records and safety documentation.

Job description

NPG Senior Authorised Person – Long-Term Contract – Yorkshire – 11kV – Monday to Friday

I’m working with an established utilities contractor looking to appoint an experienced NPG SAP to support ongoing electrical distribution works across the NPG network, covering the yorkshire patch.

The position will involve working across a range of 11kV distribution projects, supporting planned works, network maintenance, asset replacement and new connections.

The role will involve:

• Acting as a Senior Authorised Person on the network, carrying out switching, isolations, earthing and restoration activities.


• Preparing and implementing switching schedules in accordance with NPG safety rules and procedures.


• Issuing, receiving and cancelling safety documentation, including Permits to Work and Sanctions for Test.


• Supporting 11kV and 33kV cable, substation, overhead line and asset replacement works.


• Liaising with Network Control, Project Managers and site teams to coordinate planned outages and switching activities.


• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with NPG electrical safety rules and safe systems of work.


• Supporting commissioning, energisation and network restoration activities where required.


• Maintaining accurate switching records and safety documentation throughout the works.

Experience required:

• Current or previous NPG authorisations


• Strong experience operating on 11kV electrical distribution networks.


• Good understanding of switching procedures, safety documentation and DNO safety rules.


• Experience supporting distribution projects, including cable works, substations, overhead lines or asset replacement.


• Full UK driving licence.


• 12 month rolling contract


• Monday to Friday
